1. Sita Ram and Son

I had heard so much about this Chole-Bhatura place that I used to plan to visit it whenever I went to Shimla, yet sometimes they were out of stock or sometimes closed due to Sundays . used to go. After all, when I succeeded, I was definitely a happier person.

2. Pawan Pakore Wala

This small corner is located in New Shimla which is not much of a tourist centre. Still, if you want to taste fresh Kurkez (which is the specialty of Shimla) then you have to head to this place. However, the Kurchez you get at Krishna Bakers loses their charm as they are not fresh and are served only after being heated in the microwave.

3. Navbahar

Had my wife not been from Shimla, I might have never got the taste of bun tikki or hot dog from this place, which is located very close to St. Bedes College. This is another place where you will find a long queue of people and despite calling them in advance to pack some hot dogs for us, they were unable to do so.

4. Baljees

If one is strolling down the street of Mall Road, one is more or less likely to see a big sweet shop called Baljeez. Balaji is quite popular for its freshly prepared sweets and more popular for the hot gulab jamuns that they serve there.

5. Cafe Anna’s in Annadale

No mention of street food in the Hills is complete without the mention of Maggi. I had Shimla’s best Maggi at Café Anna, a cute little café located near the golf course of Annandale.

6. Aunty Ka Dhaba

This small but neat place is famous for its authentic Chinese and Tibetan cuisine. Order noodles with chopsuey or Manchurian and dumplings. Their Indo-Chinese food will definitely leave you wanting more!

7. Embassy

Offering delicious cakes and amazing views of the city, this place is famous for its apple cake and biryani. They serve Chinese, Indian and Continental food. Don’t miss their iconic ice creams with flavors like vanilla, strawberry, pineapple, the most famous of which are the Nutty Chocolate Cone and their smoothies and shakes.

8. Kewal Ka Dhaba

Nestled in a beautiful dense forest, this is the oldest tea shop in Shimla and is very popular among the university students. Its specialty is that their butter bun is served with strong tea for just Rs 20. Try it!

9. Pappi Da Dhaba

With all kinds of great parathas and delicious cold coffee, it is a good place to relax with friends or for a quick meetup after college. Relive your college days with a good and hearty breakfast here!

10. Tibetan Food Corner

Steamed and fried with red chilli chutney, mint chutney and mayo, this hot plate of momos is the best way to escape the biting cold. However, the most popular dish is Kurki served with chilli chutney, which is rarely found anywhere else.
